Valletta ~ is often overlooked as a short city break option, but it boasts many of the elements that competing urban centres offer - and without the crowds of tourists.
The Maltese capital is rich in culture, art and architecture, while the island of Malta has history dating back 7000 years with Neolithic medieval castles,fortified towns and cities.
Valleta is the smallest capital city in the EU, with just 9,000 inhabitants, yet it has more than 320 monuments. And because of its compact size, it is easy to both explore the city and lounge on one of the nearby beaches on a short break.
